Purchased a washer dryer set. Dryer control board failed almost immediately. New control board was installed and also failed almost immediately. Speed Queen now regards the unit as commercial because it's in a home that is rented out a few times a year, so will not cover labor, which is $250 a visit. Standard Appliance in Bend not helpful either.

We got the dryer less than a month ago. The minute it was hooked up it made a banging sound and it did not dry the clothing. The electrician said that it was missing some bolts on the back and I wonder now if this was returned once already. Three technicians came out but could not determine the cause or resolve the issue. Finally, I just got a replacement today. I had read that SpeedQueen was a great company and I hope this is true.

We have appreciated the dryer but the washer has been fair. It doesn't seem to handle even small amounts of fabric softener. It left stains on our clothing. I typically want to wash in cold but was instructed to use warm to hot water to dissolve detergent. This seems contraindicating to Speed Queen's mission. I just had higher hopes for Speed Queen and perhaps I was over sold.

What a great dryer, it's a workhorse and drys clothes perfectly with zero wrinkles. I put my tablecloths in to refresh them and steam them, they come out smelling nice and wrinkle free. Dries towels and jeans in no time. I love the 5 year warranty and made in the USA is a win win.

I have been purchasing Speed Queen washers and dryers for years. This current dry doesn't have a timed dial so unless I set a timer, I can't keep track of how much time is left in a cycle. I also miss the bell alerting me to when the dryer has finished. Sometimes "improvements" aren't so.

I've had my washer and dryer set for almost a month…why I ever owned another brand is beyond me! This is our first time owning Speed Queen and as long as they hold up like everyone says…then we are customers for life! Small but efficient, simple and easy to use! I can tell a big difference in our clothes being clean…my husband and son are welders and mechanics so getting their clothes clean is always a difficult chore! But one wash and they are clean!

I thought my machine was not working. I purchased the machine in December, 2025. After using it for several loads, different settings, I called to have a technician out. My clothes were always damp. He assured me the machine components were working. He told me this is a common complaint they receive.He told me that the moisture sensor is not big enough. They have told speed queen. That doesn't help me. I wish I would have spent half and gotten a big box store brand. This machine has caused me more labor than it's worth.

I was so excited to purchase my first speed queen dryer. The Appliance Place was extremely helpful and had my dryer delivered in just a couple days.
Unfortunately, after having it in my home for 27 days, the new dryer stopped working. We waited a week for a repair man to come to our house to find out the entire output board needed to be replaced. It was extremely discouraging that one of the "best dryers on the market" had a malfunctioning part in the first month. I will definitely think twice before spending the money to purchase the matching washing machine, or recommending speed queen to friends and family.

We had a Kenmore "high efficiency" washer with no agitator, which on its best day took an hour to complete a noisy cycle. I say this because now I am often surprised the Speed Queen's wash cycle is finished so quickly even when I add an extra rinse to the cycle.
This machine is quiet, efficient and gets laundry clean with no residue left on items such as sweaters in lingerie bags.
I am delighted my dear hubby bought this machine for my birthday present. 😊😊😊

My story starts 34 years ago when my wife and I got married. At that time my grandmother said that for our wedding present she would like to get us a washer and dryer. She said that we could buy anything we wanted but that it had to be a Maytag (not today's Maytag). For the first 20 years of our marriage along with three kids the old Maytag was good. However in the last 14 years we have been through three sets of supposedly good quality washers and dryers, and I can fix anything but not circuit boards or junk. The last set (Maytag lasted 3 years with only my wife and I in the house). I learned about Speed Queen through my son and did lots of research. Two months ago we purchased a new 5 series washer and dryer from a local dealer. The first time I laid eyes on a Speed Queen I fell in love. What I saw was very like the old Maytag machines that we purchased 34 years ago but better. They are fantastic, and we are 100% positive that they will last for the balance of lives. Don't get another washer and dryer every couple of years, just invest in a lifetime washer and dryer now. They are more expensive for initial purchase but much less expensive over time. You may ask why I am so sure of the quality. Like I said I can fix / disassemble and reassemble anything and on day one I completely disassembled the dryer so that I could configure it for side vent discharge (knockouts to allow) so that I could install 4" closer to the wall. Everything inside these machines are rock solid designed for years of heavy use. The side vent option was not hard at all (needed to get a short pipe and two elbows) but was disappointed that Speed Queen nor anyone else had any directions or videos of how to do. I did it with ease but would have felt more comfortable about tearing apart a brand new dryer if there was a guide or video. In hind site I should have recorded and posted but it's too late now. With Speed Queen you are not buying a necessity appliance, you are investing in a one time lifetime investment for your family. I wish that I would have known about Speed Queen 14 years ago after my first 20 year old Maytag washer and dryer died. I am certain that if I would have known of Speed Queen 14 years ago and purchased them when my old school Maytags died, that they would sill be here and running great. With that said I wish that 34 years ago my grandmother would have known of Speed Queen because she would have said "any washer and dryer but it must be a Speed Queen".

Quiet, though dryer makes a thumpa thunpa noise at the beginning of the cycle I wonder if is normal. Seems to use less water, but clothes still get clean. Overall I love the machines, but do have some suggestions. Wish there was a way to choose a rinse only cycle. Hate the locked cover as I often find that run away sock after I've started the machine. Wish the dryer had the extended tumble available on the less dry setting.

Recently purchased. As with the washing machine waited several weeks for delivery ,salesman explained this at purchase. Was disappointed as the door clip broke before first load was in the machine. We were extremely disappointed when we were told it could be several days before it could be resolved.

We have received two dryers, model #DR5004WG, since October 2, 2025. The first one had a defective motor that made a clicking sound. It came out of the box that way. The installer said it would stop within an hour. It never did. Eventually the store we bought it from contacted Speed Queen and was able to get a new one sent to us.
The second dryer began making a high pitched squealing sound a couple days after delivery. Instead of going through the dealer again, I called an appliance repair company and have service scheduled to look at it. If it is major, I will again be calling the appliance store that we purchased from.

The dryer has very nice features and performs well Two minor misses - I had a timed dry choice from 0-60 minutes on my 10 year old dryer. This only allows either 30 minutes or 60 minutes. Also there's no time left display, which was on my old dryer. If it had these 2 features I would have rated it 5 stars

The Speed Queen DR5004WE Dryer I purchased was a replacement for a 30-year-old commercial heavy-duty dryer that was another brand that finally stopped working. I wanted to replace the old dryer with something comparable in terms of quality and dependability. Speed Queen was the ONLY brand that met that criterion. Also, from what I remember, my parents owned a Speed Queen washer and dryer in the 1960's and 1970's and loved them.

This dryer doesn't dry properly when I use the auto-dryness feature. Invariably it stops before the clothes are dry. I've tried small loads, separating lighter and heavier clothes, cleaning out the filter between loads. It doesn't matter. 60-minute timed loads do better, but for what we paid for this, I expect the auto-dry feature to work properly and for the clothes to dry completely.

I purchased my DR5 dryer after it was recommended to me by a friend. It is quiet and easy to use. My only complaint is that there have been occasions when the clothes (heavy items, jeans, towels) don't get totally dry. I just add some time to it or lay it out to dry. It could be my fault for putting a heavy item in with lighter weight items. I'd rather have 1 or 2 items slightly damp than have all the lighter items over drying.

While I'm happy with the quality of my new Speed Queen dryer, I find the door incredibly difficult to open and close without pulling very hard & slamming it shut. Both actions actually move the dryer and I always have to reposition it. Also, I would prefer a timer that would give me more options than 30 or 60 minutes. Thank you.

I absoluitely love this dryer. We switched from Electric to propane as we live on a farm, and believe me I have a LOT of laundry. This is the BEST BEST dryer that I have ever owned. I also have the matching washing machine, which I have had a few years already. After my older dryer went out, I suggested we get this one. I love it so much. It has all the bells and whistles yet it is easy to figure out and operate too, especially for a senior like myself. I love the steam setting on it and everything about it. Thank you Speed Queen, and the BIGGEST perk is the 5 yr. warranty and that it's made in the USA!!!!!
